For I have given you an example, that you also should do just as I have done to you. John 13:15
Who is the greatest embodiment of generosity, forgiveness, and grace who ever lived?
Jesus was, is and forever will be.
Many people, including non-Christians, would say that Jesus was a good teacher. From the sermon on the mount to His parables, people love Jesus the teacher. But…His best lessons weren’t talked about. His best lessons were taught by His example.
Jesus taught His followers many things, including what we should emulate when Jesus wasn’t His disciples’ feet. We are to act as servants; and with that in mind, the other teachings seem to have a main theme.
Jesus didn’t lecture about love; He taught it through acting it out. He went so far as to demonstrate ultimate love by dying on a cross to set the captives of sin free.
He is our teacher and we best live by and follow His example. To follow lesser examples is to be led into a trap. Our goal isn’t to be good; it’s to be godly. Our goal isn’t to be the best of our peers, but to be like Jesus before our peers.
Set your sights on Jesus as your example, especially in the way He extended grace and dealt generously with the people around Him. What He did on the tree at Calvary…that is a teacher worth learning from.
