Week 26: Grand Marais 2011

I’d never been to northern Minnesota before and oh, how I wish we would have gone a couple of weeks later when the leaves officially change! The majority of them were still green.

The drive was amazing…what I saw of it going up at least. I should have taken a moment to stop, step out of the car and capture the reflection of the full moon on Lake Superior. It was absolutely breath-taking!

The leaves had started changing and seeing a Minnesota lighthouse (the only other one I had seen was in Wildwood, New Jersey prior to the use of a digital camera, at least by me) up close was amazing. My sister and I went on several hikes and we actually tried spotting moose up on the Gunflint trail before they closed it due to the wildfire that started this past week.

Below are a few pictures from that particular trip. Enjoy!

I’ve officially added to my bucket list: Return to northern Minnesota in the mid-late part of fall. That way, I can truly enjoy it!
